C & L Farms was started in 2004 by Eugene Caffese and his son-in-law, Nelson Laires as a custom farming business.
Eugene Caffese was born and raised in Stockton California. He grew up farming right along side his father, Joe Caffese. Eugene began farming on his own since the age of 21 and has been farming for nearly 40 years. Eugene farms 800 acres in Stockton. He currently grows alfalfa, wheat, corn, baby lima beans, kidney beans, squash, walnuts and almonds. He is also on the board for Rhodes-Stockton Bean Co-op and the Central San Joaquin Water Conservation District. Eugene has been married since 1972 to Dodie. They have 6 children: Lisa, Emily, Gina, Stephanie, Joe & Louie.
Nelson Laires was raised in Escalon. Nelson was a teacher in the Tracy School District for over 7 years before deciding to farm full time. Together with his wife Emily, they also operate C&L Hydro-Probes. Nelson has been farming for nearly 10 years. Nelson & Emily became parents of twins, Molly & Evan in March of 2009 and a daughter Leah in April of 2012.
